My First Research Question (Brainstorming Assignment)

 

As we did learn from Harvard Sampler, is human brain would always superior to computer?

What makes difference between human brain and computer?

Can technology someday overcome the limitation of computer?

What technologies there are to realize Artificial Intelligence?

What is my current topic?

My current topic is “Can artificial intelligence catch up with human brain?” Today, human being acquired high level of scientific technology and it makes us to understand how our mind operate and even it makes it possible to create artificial intelligence which works similar to our brain. Some scientist and people are arguing that someday artificial intelligence of computer will catch up with human's brain as we can see from SF movies such as 'I robot' or 'Terminator'. I thought this question is very curious because it is closely relates to human beings' future. I will start the research to investigate how much AI has developed and how human beings' future will be changed from it. I think my final essay will be about the history and future about Artificial Intelligence.

 

What are my guiding questions?

What is concept and definition of Artificial Intelligence? What is the history of AI? What is the future of AI? What is the latest technology of AI? What is the limitation of AI compare to human brain?

 

What are my current thoughts?

Although computer is more efficient at calculating and restoring of data than human brain, computer has critical difference from human. It is that computer can’t think itself as human beings create everything with their ideas. I think it is impossible to computer to catch up with human beings still in future because of this limitation.

 

What is the opposition?

Some people argue that as artificial neural network develops, someday computer will get ability to have real artificial intelligence. In fact, Hubert Dreyfus said in his work that there is ability of realization of AI in robotic system which uses neural system like human brain or similar mechanisms.
